Reducing Air Pollution for Asian Games 2018

The Indonesian government has prepared a lot of things to welcome Asian Games 2018. Not only renovating the stadiums and infrastructures, many people also urge the Indonesian government to reduce air pollution in Indonesia. In 2017, the air quality monitoring conducted by the Environment and Forestry Ministry showed that the level of air pollutant in Jakarta had reached 35 micrograms per cubic meter. Even if it did not exceed the national standard which is 65 micrograms pcm, it exceeds the standard set by World Health Organization which is 25 micrograms pcm. The air pollutant in Indonesia mainly caused by motor vehicle, forest and land fires, power plants and smelters, construction waste, and household activities. The government should focus to reduce air pollution since it might create problems at Asian Games. Many international athletes that come to Indonesia to compete might get health problems that will lead to poor performances or sickness. This premise also supported by the...

How Does US Gun Law Reform Create Unity?

The case of mass shooting in Florida has made people change their mind and push them to actually do something. Many people start to protest in order for the government to create a new policy thus banning people to have guns. Those American citizens are fed-up with Trump’s policies that do not fix anything like giving guns to teachers at school in order for them to protect students. This is where we can see the phenomenon of young, majority, and minority people starting to work together in order to change their future. We have seen how Emma Gonzales’s speech started to move a lot of people. The fight for the reform is not only the battle for those who become the victim but also the fight for #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, and Woman’s March. Many activists feel a relation with the movement since all of this happened because of the fault of the structure. Like many black people are shot because of the current gun law or most victims of the mass shooting are women and children. The s...

Baarle

A border is the essence of a country as it was stated as one of the requirement to be recognized as a country. Back in the day, people agreed on Westphalia declaration to make sure that every country has a clear definition of the territory thus prevent conflict between countries. Therefore, Baarle created some anomaly by having an international border running through their building. What makes Baarle unique is the fact that there are some Belgium’s enclaves and some Netherland’s counter-enclaves inside Baarle. Therefore there are two municipalities inside Baarle which are Baarle-Nassau and Baarle-Hertog. The international border that separates them is not a straight line but 26 scattered lands around Baarle. For example, there is a land called Zondereigen in the Belgian Town of Merksplas and 22 Belgian exclaves in the Netherland. Within Zondereigen there are also eight Netherland’s exclaves. Therefore citizens in Baarle have dual citizenship and dual passports. The governmental pro...

Terti

Prompts: write about your friend I want to write about each person of PEDS to show my gratitude so the first victim will be our president, Terti. But before I moving on, please remember that the purpose of this writing is never to create harm and I’ve got the consent from the subject. I have known Terti since I joined PEDS but I finally got close to her since IVED preparation. I finally know how hard it is for her to chew and swallows foods which explains why she is so skinny. We talked a lot about the sims, memes, and Sundanese. Basically, many moments that we have shared together is not something that will create world peace but still, I am grateful for it. But even if that’s the case, I have learnt a lot from her. I learned that I should be patient in facing many things. Terti shows me that no matter what happens like if there is a problem inside your team being angry will not change anything or no matter how hard it is to become a president, the mo...

What I Think About Life

Prompts:    What makes you sad? The reason I write this is to make sure that somehow I can leave the traces of my mind about my surrounding. This writing is not wise nor good but at least if somehow in the future I cannot speak anymore, I’ve already put my mind on this blog. I realize that the way I act or the way I think is not “normal”. I usually say a lot of weird stuff and my mind goes everywhere. Trust me, I have tried to change that but maybe God thinks it will be better for me this way. I think it is okay for me to be myself and I should live the best out of my life. That is why I do not like conflict or people who get angry easily because I believe those temper will lead you to something that you will regret soon or later. It doesn’t mean I condemn you who get angry, I still believe you have your own decision and it is up to you. What I want to say is, it usually become very hard for me the moment someone aggressively blames me for not joining his/her ang...
