What to do with US’ guns?



The proliferation of shooting cases in US, and worse, the shooting cases in schools where the perpetrators are mostly underage civilians has reached its peaked concern that something is in dire need to change regarding the gun ownership in the country. The debate, though, is not showing any sign a change is going to be made soon. Despite the fact that the country has lived to see how many victims- innocent young victims- to die in the cases, and the rest of them experiencing a horrifying trauma, it is pretty questionable why such reformation needs this long of a debate. However, there is an interesting idea that US should follow the step of Australia gun law reform.

The Australia has managed to dramatically decrease its gun violence since a mass shooting is Tasmania 30 years ago. Their reformed gun law has become one of the most comprehensive firearm ownership standard in the world. One of the requirements includes 28 days waiting period in order for people to get a gun due to a thorough background check and the reason of self-defence is not counted as a valid reason to get any gun. After this bill was passed, one-third of the country firearms were sold back to the government or destroyed. This was possible for Australia since it is more simple to make the 6 states of Australia to agree on a bill than United States with 50. Nevertheless, the gun law reform in US needs faster and more accommodative actions that will ensure the safety of the society without much further due.

Why I Started Writing Again

PROMPTS :: Your writing journey. Since I started high school I stopped writing, I got too busy preparing for the 6 rounds of exams I ended up taking. And when I started Uni, things just got busier.
