The mass
shooting in Parkland, Florida has continued to raise conversation regarding gun
control. Government has try to propose five policies that most likely will be
able to control the use of gun in society. One of them that has risen debates
in society are Trump’s attempt to armed teachers in school.
Trump and Greg
Abbott, Republican governor of Texas argue that this will raise the safety on
campus, knowing that there are armed personnel on campus. They will have signs
out front and provide trainings for teachers to handle an active-shooter
situation. This hopefully will cause deterrence effect for the shooter. He of
course won’t occupy all teachers with guns, as he proposed to only arm the ones
with natural talent, like how we see natural talent on hitting baseball or golf
ball.
However, lots of
people see that it’s not justified for teachers who supposedly handle students
with care and guide them become someone who’s also able to oppress at the same
time. They see that Trump don’t picturize how the students might react toward
teachers carrying gun. His regulation also doesn’t seem to understand the real situation.
Most of the students are the ones that do this massacre and end up killing
himself too, meaning they don’t actually care about themselves and stop them
from doing so.
This might cause
lots of rejection from society, however it isn’t fully ridiculous. With a tight
regulation and enforcement, it might work and actually safe even more people in
the end.
