So, after some thoughts we believe that one thing that is
missing from our training system is emphasizing on using effective language.
And since none of us are that good at it to point it out during regular
training time, we thing it would be best that if everyone can independently
train it.
We believe that the use of effective language is not
something that can be taught, but something that needs to be habituated, thus
you can catch yourself when you are using too many words that means the same
thing. Too long a sentence to explain a simple argument thus wasting seconds
off of your precious speech. -Exhibit A of using too many words.-
So we decide to adopt a writing exercise.
In college we are demanded to write a lot. Thousands of words
and pages upon pages.
WE WANT TO BREAK THAT HABIT.
So the exercise will force you to explain yourself in a
limited amount of words.
With structure.
GAME PLAY:: Let’s call it Journal Entry
Word limits
:: 230 – 260
Structure::
Opening
Paragraph (3 paragraph, representing 3 different point)
Main
sentence
Supporting
sentence
Conclusion
Topic::
Will be given but mostly simple ones. But if you need help getting started,
just google Journal Prompts. Those
are mostly suitable for middle school kids, but before we brace the more
complicated topics, let’s start here.
POSTING MECHANISM::
- you can either write with the admin account, or your own gmail account. (if you want to use your gmail acc, please contact devi so that you can be added. BUT IT IS HEAVILY ENCOURAGED YOU USE YOUR OWN GMAIL. so that we dont get too much log in for this account and get locked out again.
- Each person that participated please create your own Writer Tag, in the post page --> Label. FORMAT :: NAME-BATCH ex:: Devi-2015, this writer tag will be your identifier so that it is easy for Training Div to Check.
- for every Entry use you WRITE TAG and the week of the year label ex: March 12 - 18, 2018 is week of the year 11. Look up :: Week of the year.
- For every entry please provide TITLE, the journal prompts/topic of the piece and the word count.
RULES::
- Each person willing to participate in this
exercise needs to submit minimum of 3 journal entries each week.
Each submission will be worth 10 points - Clear and satisfactory entry will be granted additional
5 points
Unclear entry (with too much word of messages not deliveres, or lack of structure) will be deducted by 5 points. - Entry that exeds word limit will be deducted by 5 points.
We still don’t know what this point system is for yet. There
might be reward, there might not be. Who knows~~
But the point is GET WRITING AND MAKE IT SHORT!!
